Hiking Boots

These are the best things to Pack for your Newfoundland and Labrador Experience. You can experience the four seasons in one day.

If you plan to hike during your stay in NL, don’t forget to take your hiking boots! Newfoundland, beautiful scenic hiking trails along the coast are arguably the most beautiful in the world. Truly an experience that needs to be seen up close and personal. There is no shortage of hiking trails; you can find them anywhere. Pack a lunch and stop along the shoreline for a picnic. You won’t regret it!!

Rain Gear & Umbrella

No matter how short your stay is, you are almost guaranteed to witness some RDF (Rain, Drizzle and Fog). Newfoundland is primarily known for its unpredictable and very fast-changing weather. You could start your day with a Sunny, dry morning; by lunch, the sky is grey, and there is a downpour of rain. That or maybe the fog rolled in. Come prepared for some precipitation, and know that even if it’s wet outside, there’s still a lot to do and see.

Cold Weather/ Layered Clothing

Situated right in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, there will be times when layering your clothes is a great idea. Depending on the time of year you are travelling, there will be cooler days than others. Still, even on the warmest days of the summer, it’s not unusual for the weather to switch it up entirely for a day or two.

(not forgetting to mention that this is one of the windiest places in the world, so some days the wind does tend to keep the temperature cooler) If you travel to the island between October and April/May, we recommend mitts, gloves, and a hat. But don’t worry! If you find yourself visiting and have not taken enough to keep you warm, there are many little local shops where you can purchase knit gloves, hats, sweaters, etc. They are lovely pieces and act as a souvenir of your trip. It’s a win-win

Fly Spray

Something you could buy while visiting, but if you are coming for a short stay, it may be more economical to bring your own. It is something you are guaranteed to need. The flies are pesky enough to drive you mad some days, so if you have your spray, you’re good to go!!

Camera

Cell Phone cameras today have come an incredibly long way. The quality is unreal, even compared to a few years back. If you don’t have a professional camera, your cell phone will take spectacular pictures of the scenery during your visit. If you have a professional camera, you will be blown away by the stunning photos you will capture here. So take the scenic image capturing to the next level and share this beautiful province with everyone!
