Torbay History House and Museum

We visit The Torbay History House and Museum grand opening for about 2 hours. The friendly staff guided us around the museum while we explored the beautiful restored History House and Museum. We park in a big parking lot at the front of the building and walk toward the entrance. The building has two-level and is painted white, with a large deck raping around the building. To the right, we observed the freshly cut lawn perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.

Next, we walk up to six flights of steps and now standing on the patio front porch. To the right on the patio is a sitting area which overlooks the lawn. The front door was open, so we walked in. The ground floor was elegant and laid out perfectly, with the correct number of art and items on display. 

We walk down a small hallway just before we reach the center of the museum, which has stairs leading up to the second floor. There is an art room to your left with a large window to let the natural light in on the display items. We walk up the stairs. On the left wall of the stairs, there are perfectly hung pictures which display the history and beauty of Torbay. Each art room on the second-floor display unique art. The Museum is spacious and ready for you to visit and explore.

Hiking Silver Mine Head Path

Hiking Silver Mine Head Path from Torbay to Middle Cove Beach. This hike is rated easy and is one of the most popular hiking trails in the town. You can park on Motion Drive and start hiking here to Middle Cove. You will start your hike on the bank of an open meadow that overlooks the ocean. The view is so spectacular that two red chairs were placed here for hikers to stop, rest and take pictures.

We have hiked this trail many times and enjoyed it. A new pedestrian bridge has been installed over North Pond Brook Water Falls. This gives you a good ocean view from the top of the bridge during spring. Every time we do this hike, we stop and have a little picnic on the rocks or in a location where we can look out at the ocean.

Next, you will hike across the side of a Stoney cliff, through woodland, see the best coastal views and walk over Silver Head Mine. This hike can take up to 1.5 hours to complete. You will arrive at Middle Cove Beach at the end of your hiking trek.

Middle Cove Beach is perfect for stopping and enjoying the cool breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. You will always find someone on the beach in the summer fishing cod and caplin during the season. Thousands of caplins roll on the beach each year, and the locals and visitors catch buckets full of these little fishes. They make perfect meals in many different ways.
