Our Experience at The Rooms

Four of us visit The Rooms, one adult and three kids. Two kids are age nine, and the other is three. They all run up the stairs to the entrance door and ask, “Can we go through the spinney doors?” Yes, let’s go! When we got inside, security greeted us, and then we proceeded to the front counter to get our passes and a building map. It costs $2 for parking and $20 for admission. We were given four passes/pins to place on our coats to show we had an access pass to the security in the building when accessing different areas.

The room has four levels—level one: the admission desk, elevator, washroom and gift shop. You can visit the gift shop on your way out after exploring.

We begin to walk up the stairs to explore the Christmas display decorations on the floors. The kids were so excited they took off to start their adventure. We visit Beaumont Hamel and The Trail of The Caribou on the second floor. They were amazed by the artifacts/ exhibits on display and asked a lot of questions, which I attempted to answer. We spend about 15 minutes viewing artifacts -and reading the illustrations before going to the third floor.

When we got to level 3, the kids were excited to see all the animal artifacts on display. We walk through two big glass doors to enter a big room full of different animals and the history telling tail of their existence. We saw a giant octopus, sea birds, eagles, polar bears, and many other animals. We spend about 30 minutes on this level.

Level 4 is the highest, and it hosts a Cafe, two observation decks, many more artifacts, and the history of Newfoundland and Labrador. We spent about 15 minutes on this level but could pay longer, as I would like to grab a bite to eat and relax, but the kids were so excited to explore more of The Rooms.
