What the Trail Is Like

The Skerwink Trail winds through dense boreal forest before breaking onto the open coastal headland with dramatic views of Trinity Bay, sea stacks, and rugged cliffs. From the highest points, icebergs are occasionally visible in May and June, and humpback whales can be spotted offshore in summer. Bald eagles are a consistent sighting along the coastal sections. The trail is a loop it can be completed in either direction.

Is the Skerwink Trail Hard?

The trail is rated moderate. The wooded section at the start is gentle. The coastal headland section involves some steeper terrain and requires care near the cliff edges. Most reasonably fit adults and older children can complete it comfortably. The terrain is rocky in places and can be muddy after rain waterproof footwear makes a significant difference.
